In figurative subject matter, I place the human figure with both its frailty and sensuality in contrasting contexts and environments. I love to create an open spannungsbogen that readily spawns narratives the viewer can unfold at will. While my paintings are seldomly outright surrealist, they usually are quite symbolic.
My abstract pieces focus on visual languages that seek to encode narratives in their a graphic way. This makes them constructive rather than analytic paintings, and the composition follows from an underlying statement rather than decomposed imagery.

As a painter, I like to work with acrylics for the vividness in color, permanence, and their higher transparency that gives them a heightened ability to create texture and depth in layered compositions.
In terms of style, I feel there is a continuum between impressionist and expressionist stylization that I seek to explore. But both modern realism and the academic approaches of the old masters equally contribute to my style. After all, there is little to radically oppose in the all-embracing view of art we enjoy today.
I always enjoy putting on a happening, tossing ideas around with fabulous people, or just mingling at a stimulating get-together. So please don’t hesitate to contact me any way you find convenient – let’s make something happen!
